Flexible
Macromolecular Docking
Workshop
organisers:
Chantal Prévost: IBPC,
Paris France
Michael Sternberg: Imperial College
of Science and Technology, London, UK
Joël Janin: Gif-sur-Yvette,
France
The
object of this workshop is to bring together the groups which
have experienced some aspects of flexible docking in order
to share the experience accumulated by each of them, to identify
the difficulties inherent in flexible docking and to tackle
the next steps to be performed in the field. Representatives
from neighbouring fields, particularly small molecule docking
and protein folding, will also bring their experience of protein
flexibility.

Applied
Functional Genomics
Workshop
organisers:
Brian Clark: University of Aarhus,
Denmark
This
workshop is designed to cover specific topics within the broad
range of applied functional genomics. In spite of solid progress
in sensitive, robotic methods for high throughput analysis
with identification of numerous targets, there are huge gaps
in our knowledge for real logical therapeutic protein design.
We plan to evaluate critically the state of the art position
in the following selected topics:
- High
Throughput Technologies
- Bioinformatics
- Protein
Profiling/Proteomics
- Epigenetics,
the RNA World
- Ageing
and Age-related Diseases

Ligand
Binding Molecules against the Human Proteome
Workshop
organisers:
Mike Taussig: Babraham Institute,
Cambridge
Andreas Plückthun: Zurich
University, Zurich
John McCafferty: Sanger Centre,
Hinxton, Cambridge
Specific
ligand binding molecules are essential tools for monitoring
protein expression and function in health and disease. While
antibodies are the most familiar, other possibilities based
on novel molecular scaffolds, peptides or nucleic acids are
also available. There is now a recognised need to establish
a comprehensive, characterised and standardised collection
of ligand binders directed against the individual proteins
of the human proteome. This workshop will explore the requirements
and feasibility of generating such a collection on a genome
wide scale, together with applications in high throughput
assay systems.

Compartmentalised
signalling by kinases and phosphatases (14th Protein Kinase
Symposium)
Workshop
organiser:
Kjetil Taskén: The Biotechnology
Centre, University of Oslo
The
focus of this meeting is to gather international scientists
in the area to show examples of the use of genome-wide approaches
and state-of-the-art functional genomics techniques in the
cell signalling field and promote a more widespread use of
functional genomics approaches. The aim is to promote understanding
of the functional significance of intracellular signalling
and in particular the emerging principles of anchored and
localized signalling in the cell.

Environmental
genomics and environmental metagenomics
Workshop
organisers:
Juan L. Ramos: CSIC, Granada,
Spain
Víctor De Lorenzo: CNB,
CSIC, Madrid, Spain
Kenneth N. Timmis: GBF, Braunschweig,
Germany
The
hosting of this Workshop will contribute to overcoming the
notion of prokaryotes as simple models and will divulge their
use in tackling more complex problems, and to revealing the
microbial world as a genuine source of pivotal biological
questions, involving many environmental and health problems,
and which deserve a specific focus by themselves.
